About Me
Dr. Bhawani Shankar Chowdhry is a Distinguished National Professor, Professor Emeritus, and former Dean at the Faculty of Electrical, Electronics, and Computer Engineering, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), Jamshoro, Pakistan. He has also served as a Member of the BOG, Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, and the Governing Body of the Pakistan Engineering Council. He was a Guest Scientist/Associate at ICTP (UNESCO/UNU), Italy, for 12 years and thrice an EU Erasmus Mundus Visiting Fellow.
With over four decades of teaching and research experience, his expertise spans electronics, wireless sensor networks, intelligent instrumentation, railway track monitoring, telemedicine, IoT, and structural health monitoring. He has co-edited renowned books including Wireless Networks, Information Processing and Systems (CCIS 20), Emerging Trends in ICT (CCIS 281), Wireless Sensor Networks for Developing Countries (CCIS 366) by Springer, and IoT Architectures for Smart City Applications by IGI Global, USA.
Dr. Chowdhry has been a passionate advocate for global academic exchange. Through his guidance, over 200 students from underprivileged areas secured life-changing opportunities via UGRAD, Fulbright, Commonwealth, Erasmus Mundus/Plus, and Australian Aid programs—enhancing cultural understanding and contributing to national development.
He also served as Chair of IEEE USA (Karachi Section) for six years. In his 38 years with IEEE, he has organized 1,000+ technical/social events and over two dozen IEEE-sponsored international conferences—empowering youth with emerging tech and leadership skills. A true humanist with a poetic soul and environmental consciousness, he is also a core member of the Canada-Pakistan Council for Education and an advisor to Volunteers Pakistan.
